The 58 percent increase in the Hispanic population documented by the 2000 U.S. Census will have a dramatic impact on congressional redistricting and the allocation of government money

In a highly publicized event, President Bush recently met with the Hispanic Congressional Caucus to discuss issues of importance to the Latino community.

And it was no accident that President Bush's first official trip outside of the US was to Mexico, where migration issues and the employment of Mexican nationals in the US topped the agenda.
